As Queensland prepares to welcome the world for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Department of Sport, Racing and Olympic and Paralympic Games (DSROPG), in partnership with OnTalent, invites you to lead the strategy, policy and operations that will underpin the Games and their legacy.

About the Department

The Department of Sport, Racing and Olympic and Paralympic Games empowers Queenslanders to live more active, connected lives. From promoting grassroots participation to enabling elite sporting achievement, regulating the racing industry, and leading Olympic and Paralympic delivery. Our work touches every corner of the state.

The Olympic and Paralympic Games Office (OPGO) is the Queensland Government's lead agency for Games coordination. OPGO oversees whole-of-government responsibilities and investment, ensuring Brisbane 2032 is delivered on time, on budget and with enduring legacy outcomes for all Queenslanders.

As Executive Director, Policy and Operations, you will be at the centre of one of the most complex and high-profile policy environments in Australia. Reporting to the Deputy Director-General, you will lead the development and coordination of system-wide Games-related policy, budget oversight, and operational governance within OPGO.

This influential leadership role spans policy, legislative coordination, departmental risk, corporate operations, whole of games budget and stakeholder engagement.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead policy and legislative development across multiple priority areas including First Nations, accessibility and inclusion, procurement and supply chain, and sustainability.
  • Oversee the government's investment in Brisbane 2032 and drive budget tracking, cost definition and reporting.
  • Represent Queensland's interests at the highest levels—Ministerial and Director-General forums, national intergovernmental bodies, and with Games partners.
  • Provide governance and operational leadership across risk, finance, legal, HR, IT and procurement functions within OPGO.
  • Lead the Secretariat for key Games oversight bodies including the Games Leadership Group and Games Executive Group.
  • - Build and maintain strategic relationships with local, national and international partners such as the Brisbane 2032 Organising Committee, the IOC, IPC, AOC, and Paralympics Australia.
  • - Foster a values-led culture of excellence, inclusion, and collaboration within a high-performing team.

What We're Looking For

We're seeking an accomplished leader with a strong track record in governance, public policy and complex program delivery. You will be someone who operates with courage and integrity, and can influence across systems and sectors, even where you have no direct authority.

To thrive in this role, you will:

  • Navigate and integrate complex policy, governance and budget issues in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
  • Lead strategically and think systemically, balancing political awareness, long-term vision, and practical execution.
  • Build enduring partnerships with diverse stakeholders to align outcomes and maintain trust.
  • Role model strong governance, risk and corporate stewardship in a high-profile and highly accountable environment.
  • Inspire and empower your team to perform at their best, while building a safe, inclusive and positive workplace culture.

While no mandatory qualifications are required, a tertiary degree in Finance, Economics, Law, Business or Public Administration would be highly regarded.

Play a Leading Role Behind the Scenes of Brisbane 2032

This is more than a job, it's a legacy. Be part of the strategic engine room delivering one of the most ambitious undertakings in Queensland's history.

For a confidential discussion, contact Natasha Olsson-Seeto or Jevon Seah on (07) 3305 5800. To help the panel assess your suitability, please provide your current résumé and a brief (1–2 page) response to 'What we are looking for' explaining why you are the best fit for this role. Applications close at 11.59pm Saturday 2 August 2025.

Embrace the extraordinary. Join the team delivering Brisbane 2032.
