Head of Supply Chain

Sydney, New South Wales, Australia at Full time

A leading player in the Australian food industry, this business has grown rapidly over the last decade to become a national leader with a significant manufacturing, distribution, and logistics footprint. With a strong focus on quality, innovation, and customer service, the business now operates at scale and is embarking on the next phase of growth.

To support this growth, a newly created Head of Supply Chain position has been established to drive transformation, deliver cost savings, and build structure across the supply chain function.

Reporting directly to the General Manager Operations with a dotted line to the CEO, the Head of Supply Chain will lead the optimisation of warehousing, transport, and 3PL partnerships, ensuring the function operates with the rigour, efficiency, and discipline of a large-scale enterprise.

This is a pivotal leadership role, responsible for delivering significant cost efficiencies, embedding best-practice processes, and strengthening supplier and partner accountability. The successful candidate will play a critical role in shaping how the business manages freight, logistics, and supply to support sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end supply chain function, with responsibility for warehousing, 3PL, logistics, and freight management.
  • Develop and execute strategies to reduce costs.
  • Negotiate and manage supplier and logistics contracts to secure competitive rates and improve service delivery.
  • Establish robust processes and structures to provide accurate visibility of freight and true landed costs from all international and domestic markets.
  • Ensure supply chain performance and suppliers are held accountable for damages, delays, or inefficiencies.
  • Partner closely with internal stakeholders including trading, value-add/processing, and customer service to ensure supply aligns with business needs.
  • Drive transformation projects to optimise warehouse layouts, throughput, and pick accuracy.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to existing supply chain staff, building career pathways for the team.
  • Contribute as a key member of the leadership team, helping the business evolve from a fast-growing mid-sized company into a structured, enterprise-level operation.
Key Requirements
  • Proven senior leadership experience within supply chain, logistics, or operations, ideally in the food, FMCG, or distribution sectors.
  • Strong background in managing chilled or short shelf-life supply chains, with an understanding of the unique challenges compared to ambient/long shelf-life products.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver significant cost savings and commercial outcomes through contract negotiation and operational improvement.
  • Experience managing 3PL providers, freight forwarders, and warehouse operations.
  • Hands-on leadership style with the ability to build structure and discipline in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial business.
  • Strong commercial acumen and the ability to provide visibility of costs, risks, and efficiencies at a strategic level.
  • Resilient, pragmatic, and execution-focused – able to move quickly from strategy to delivery.
This is an outstanding opportunity to step into a newly created, high-impact role within a fast-growing, ambitious organisation. On offer will be a salary package commensurate with your solid and relevant experience, including a strong base, superannuation, and STI bonus structure.
