Reticulation Maintenance Worker (Labourer)

Permanent Full Time opportunity available (9 day fortnight, 38 hours/week).

This role is part of the Water Team, focusing on safe, reliable, and cost-effective water services for the Townsville community.

Responsibilities
  • This labouring role assists the Water Team to provide an effective water operation and maintenance service, coordinating site access, permits, safety and statutory permissions to perform maintenance activities.
  • Conduct activities for major maintenance, breakdown, and planned works to minimise costs, ensure asset maintenance, reduce downtime, and reduce reactive maintenance requirements.
  • Within Bulk Water Treatment, concentrate on flushing reticulation mains, monitoring water quality through chlorine residual testing in the reticulation network, and reactive maintenance to water reticulation quality issues.
  • This position is located at the Garbutt Operations Centre in Garbutt.
About You / Qualifications
  • Mandatory
  • Current "MR" class driver's licence (or ability to obtain within 6 months of appointment)
  • Construction Industry White Card (30215 QLD)
  • Ability to work as part of a team to quickly avert or rectify interruptions to water supply
  • Strong community and customer relations skills
  • Strong work ethic
    • Desirable
    • Understanding of Workplace Health and Safety, Environmental Protection, EEO, anti-discrimination and privacy obligations, and QLD Local Government Act
    • Traffic Management Implementation course accredited
    • Asbestos awareness training and experience in removal of asbestos piping
    • Dogman or Crane Chaser certification
    • Forklift certification
