Who are we?

The Faculty of Health is dedicated to being at the forefront of teaching, learning, creativity, social development, and groundbreaking research and discovery. We work closely with industry partners and government bodies to translate discoveries into real-word impact. This role will specifically be working within the School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences.

About the role:

The Lecturer, teaching in the areas of nutritional physiology, diet and disease and/or lifespan nutrition, will lead unit teaching teams in undergraduate and/or postgraduate nutrition programs to deliver unit learning outcomes and continuously improve the student learning experience.

This position will make a significant contribution to placement units across nutrition programs through sourcing and supporting students to source placement opportunities, maintaining and developing connections with placement partners and performing administrative tasks to ensure placement completion.

As a Lecturer in Nutrition Science, Professional Practice you will:

  • Assist in applying nutrition industry and research practice into student learning experiences, success, engagement and resources.
  • Adopt innovation in curriculum design at the unit level and deliver learner-centric, research-informed teaching practices across different levels and modes of delivery.
  • Maintain deep nutrition science discipline knowledge which is applied to inform unit design
  • Support, and may lead, applications for nutrition science research and creative activities, including applications for external competitive funding, external funding for commercialization and translation activities and other funding demonstrating sustained efforts.
  • Build a national reputation, based on a growing, focused body of work recognised for quality, excellence and impact and a growing track record of timely delivery of outcomes for nutrition industry partners.

To be successful, you'll have:

  • PhD in nutrition science (or related discipline) and/or other relevant qualifications and experience.
  • Excellent record of scholarly learning and teaching in undergraduate and/or postgraduate nutrition science programs, including innovative curriculum design.
  • Demonstrated passion for teaching and learning.
  • Emerging reputation in nutrition science research and scholarship through publications and/or exhibitions and/or success in obtaining external research funding.
  • Ability to contribute to communities through nutrition science research.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues as well as key external partners and community members.
  • Eligible for membership of the Nutrition Society of Australia and status as a Registered Nutritionist and/or the Australian Institute for Food Science and Technology (desirable).
