Overview

The Presbyterian Theological College (PTC) is the ministry training college of the Presbyterian Church of Victoria (PCV) and is a reformed and evangelical institution that has a vital role in developing, disseminating, and supporting faithful gospel ministry in Melbourne, regional Victoria and beyond. The Lecturer in Practical Theology (Congregational Ministry) is a faithful Christian, academically able in the discipline of practical theology and with experience in pastoral oversight, who can help students understand the challenges and Gospel opportunities of the intellectual, moral, and cultural context in Australia. The Lecturer also has a role in leading the PCV as it engages with theological and ministry issues. Through the TEC, the Assembly sets the lecturer apart for this ministry and teaching appointment by a public act of commissioning.

The Lecturer must possess or be working toward a doctorate relevant to the field, and should be a minister in full standing with the Presbyterian Church of Australia, or willing to satisfy the requirements of the General Assembly of Australia relative to the reception of ministers from other churches, or similarly able to provide theological and spiritual leadership as a teacher of the Church, including in conducting worship services.
