This role is open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants only, in accordance with the NSW Police Force Aboriginal Employment Strategy. About the roleThe Aboriginal Community Liaison Officer (ACLO) in the Central North Police District provides advice and support to commands on local Aboriginal issues. They establish and maintain rapport with Elders, Leaders and Aboriginal community members by developing network contacts to strengthen cooperation and communication and assist community members with policing issues and engagement with statutory bodies.
Position is located in a Special Remote Location (Bourke) which attracts a fortnightly Special Remote Allowance.
The role is subject to the NSW Child Protection (Prohibited Employment) Act 1998. Persons with certain serious sex offences may be prohibited from applying as the role involves child-related employment. A Prohibited Employment Declaration is required.
A Working With Children Check (WWCC) is a prerequisite for this role. The applicant is responsible for applying for their own WWCC. If cleared, the WWCC is valid for five years and may be used for any child-related work in NSW.
Eligibility and requirements- Aboriginality is a genuine occupational qualification as authorised by Part 5, Clause 26 of the Government Sector Employment Rules 2014.
- Must sign a Prohibited Employment Declaration as part of NSW Child Protection requirements.
- WWCC is mandatory for this role.
