About UsCanteen is all about supporting young people and their families affected by cancer. Founded by young cancer patients, we offer programs and resources for 12-25 year-olds facing their own diagnosis, supporting a loved one, or grieving. Canteen, Camp Quality and Redkite (Alliance Partners) collaborate to provide Cancer Hub – a digital hub to help families impacted by cancer access practical and emotional support when they need it. Online Support is one service offered by Cancer Hub. The Team Leader - Online Counsellor role is responsible for the day-to-day operations and leadership of the Online Support team, delivering therapeutic support to young people 12-25 and parents/carers of children 0-25, using evidence-based counselling interventions in booked and ad-hoc sessions, and overseeing the online community, Canteen Connect.
Responsibilities- Deliver Online Counselling: provide high quality, evidence-based digital counselling support to a proportionate caseload of young people aged 12-25, and parents/carers/kin of children 0-25 with a cancer experience.
- Lead and develop a team of autonomous counsellors to deliver high quality therapeutic and case management interventions, supporting young people and families through their cancer experience.
- Lead the growth and development of the online community Canteen Connect; participate in developing processes and procedures for the Cancer Hub program in alignment with Canteen's Strategic Plan and funding agreements.
- Support delivery of Cancer Hub's Strategic Plan and overall organisational goals and KPIs.
- Engage with key stakeholders and other services within Cancer Hub, Alliance Partners and external providers to ensure access to appropriate supports.
- Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, or Counselling.
- Current registration with AHPRA (Psychologist) or eligibility for membership of AASW (Social Worker), PACFA, ACA or similar.
- Current Working with Children Check and willingness to undergo National Criminal History Police Clearance.
- 3-5 years' clinical practice in mental health/youth health, including digital delivery to young people and families.
- Management/leadership experience within health or community sectors; remote team leadership preferred.
- Experience in grief, loss, and bereavement counselling with knowledge of relevant theories.
- Strong networking and collaboration with service providers to build inter-agency relationships.
- High-level written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; proficient with MS Office, Salesforce (CMS), and other web-based systems.
- Willingness to travel interstate when required.
- Warm, compassionate approach with a proactive attitude and openness to new challenges.
- Base Salary + Superannuation + Not-For-Profit Salary Packaging (up to $18,550 tax-free).
- 5 Weeks Annual Leave (FTE) + 17.5% leave loading + pay during annual office closure.

- Max-term contract to 6 March 2027, 0.8 FTE, Monday-Thursday 10am-6pm AEST. Based in QLD, NSW, VIC, or SA with WFH flexibility negotiable.
- Salary: $110,000 + super and benefits.
