Job Overview

Band 4 assistant practitioner role on Tyleri ward at Ysbyty Aneurin Bevan. The role will provide support to the RN by caring for patients, enhancing the quality of hands on care. The post holder will provide high level support in the provision of quality interventions to meet the needs of patients requiring nursing and clinical care, as an RN assistant.

Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical support to implement planned care to patients under the indirect supervision of Registered Nurses.
  • Work within a designated team but with the ability to work independently as required.
  • Demonstrate awareness of the limits of personal professional practice and seek appropriate support/advice.
  • Carry out nursing care, e.g. clinical observations, wound care and point of care testing.
  • Undertake clinical tasks e.g. cannulation, venepuncture, ECG, wound care.
  • Supervise Band 2 & Band 3 Healthcare Support Workers, delegating care as appropriate.
  • Participate in case conferences and case review meetings.
  • Keep clear, accurate, contemporaneous patient records of the care provided and its impact.
  • Support the ward team and provide essential support to Registered Nurses.
Qualifications
  • Essential: Level 4 vocational qualification in a relevant health care subject / Certificate in Health Care Support Worker Education.
  • Desirable: Teaching or assessment qualification.
  • Experience/quals - Essential: Demonstrates an understanding of safeguarding legislation e.g. adults/children, The Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberties Safeguards to keep adults within their care safe.
  • Desirable: Experience in a wide range of clinical skills.
