Responsibilities
  • The role involves assisting with the development, implementation and management of environmental compliance systems and controls for the City of Ballarat.
  • This role primarily relates to environmental and planning compliance within the Landfills and Transfer Stations team, which includes:
  • Ballarat Regional Landfill, Smythesdale
  • Closed Landfills
  • Gillies Street Transfer Station
  • Other Council-owned and managed contaminated or potentially contaminated land
About You / Qualifications
  • Relevant work experience in waste management, environmental monitoring programs and rehabilitation plans; experience in the environmental industry and local government is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to support contractor coordination and contribute to compliance-related activities.
  • Familiarity with policies and procedures relating to waste and environmental management, with the ability to apply them in operational contexts.
  • Experience in assisting improvement initiatives and contributing to project delivery under supervision.
  • Understanding of health and safety issues relevant to work activities and work area.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience in preparation of written reports.
  • Experience in budgets tracking and procurement processes within delegated authority.
  • A current Australian Driver's License is required.
