Overview

The Opportunity
CARE Australia (part of CARE International) is an international aid organisation working to defeat global poverty by supporting women and girls to create lasting change in their communities around the world.

In this position, you will play a central role delivering CARE's program portfolio and forwarding its strategic goals, through grant oversight and management accountability for projects and programs within a defined portfolio, including managing the ANCP grant.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Grant oversight and management accountability for projects and programs within a defined portfolio, which will flex as required.
  • Work collaboratively within CARE on grant, program and project implementation, including with CARE country offices, other units and departments within CARE Australia, and other CARE members.
  • Support effective and meaningful partnerships in line with CARE Australia partnership principles and upholding and promoting a locally-led approach.
  • Coordinate on grant/program/project planning and implementation, periodic reviews, reflections, learning processes of the project/program/grant, engaging key stakeholders, and supporting sharing and reporting as needed.
  • Effectively engage in relationships and coordination (including potentially consortium coordination) with key stakeholders (donors, other non-governmental organisations), and represent CARE Australia as needed in relevant external fora.
  • Actively engage in program development, including initiating and developing ideas for projects and programs, production of concept notes, proposals, and budgets, and engaging with relevant external stakeholders as required.
  • In coordination with Safeguarding technical advisors, ensure all programs include appropriate CP/PSHEA risk management and mitigations to ensure the safety of program participants and communities. Regularly monitor, review and report on safeguarding concerns.
  • Actively engage in the broader work of the International Programs team.

Qualifications
Ideally you will have:

  • ABachelor's Degree in International Relations or similar field, or equivalent experience
  • Experience working in the international or community development and/or humanitarian sector with a focus on working with local partners, project operations, MEAL and program quality.
  • Experience in the Pacific and ANCP grant management is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience working alongside country teams and local civil-society organisations, to support project implementation
  • Demonstrated experience implementing gender, disability and inclusion integration across project implementation
  • Strong communication skills in cross-cultural environments, including the ability to speak and write effectively in English
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to work with limited supervision and remotely, and a consultative approach
  • Skills, behaviours and willingness to work collaboratively as part of small, geographically dispersed, but interrelated team
  • Flexibility and willingness to support the work of CARE's broader portfolio should the need arise
  • An understanding of CARE's vision, mission and values, and a commitment to uphold the CARE Australia Child Protection Code of Conduct and Preventing Sexual Harassment, Exploitation and Abuse policy
