The Governor/General Manager role provides leadership and direction for the effective and accountability-based management of all aspects of a correctional centre / complex, including the safety and security of staff, inmates and visitors and other visiting persons in compliance with policy, duty of care requirements, defined standards and key performance indicators. Governor / General Manager roles also lead and direct special projects or specialised services within Corrective Services NSW.
What We're Looking For
In this role you will utilise your proven senior managerial experience and knowledge to meet the demands of this role efficiently and effectively. You understand the diverse correctional environment and working with people in custody. As an influential dynamic leader who will always be looking to challenge the status quo, you will be joining a high performing team that is focused on driving and developing an improved workplace culture.
Essential Requirements
- Driver Licence with the ability and willingness to drive throughout NSW
- Be available on call at set times to respond to emergencies
- Comply with National Heavy Vehicle Law and Regulations and Chain of Responsibility Policy and Procedures (CESU roles only)

Targeted Question 2: As a Governor, you will be required to develop and drive innovation and inspire your teams to meet and improve benchmark performance in correctional practice. Provide a recent example of an initiative your developed and implemented that improved an area of workplace performance detailing why the improvement was necessary, how did you secure support and commitment from stakeholders, and what was the outcomes? (500 words max)

CSNSW is committed to continuing the professional development of senior staff holding the rank General Manager and part of this strategy includes the application of Section 10.4 of the Crown Employees (Custodial Executive Rank Officer – DCJ – Corrective Services NSW) Award. General Managers, participate in a process which requires rotation to a different location at grade, within CSNSW after a period of three (3) years.
A talent pool may be created for future ongoing and temporary roles and is valid for a period of up to 18 months.
