OverviewWe are looking for a Technical Product Designer to join our Product team at Sitemate, contributing to designing and delivering solutions across our product experiences. Our product owners are project managers, product thinkers and part‑time designers who work closely with engineers in small teams to prepare designs and requirements, and manage the build and delivery of new features and improvements to our customers. This role has a strong focus on delivery and working closely with engineers to scope technical work, rather than doing heavy visual design. This is a great opportunity to develop and broaden your product and design skill set, where enthusiasm and willingness to take on responsibility matter more than any particular level of prior experience.

- You will work with multiple departments (engineering, product, design, marketing, sales, customer success) and have autonomy to manage your schedule based on outcomes rather than hours.
- Asynchronous daily check-ins support focused work, with optional 1:1s or small sessions as needed.
Sitemate builds software products for the built world. Our first product, Dashpivot, helps industrial companies streamline and standardize processes in a digital format for field work on mobile or tablet, with automated workflows and real-time analytics.
Responsibilities- Directly collaborating with engineers during development, coordinating in-flight work, reviewing demos, and owning team delivery.
- Break down complex technical tasks into smaller, deliverable pieces and prepare ticket requirements.
- Prepare high-level concept designs and detailed UX flows, defining scope with the product team.
- Attend team meetings to clarify scope, test ideas and collect feedback.
- Establish and promote design guidelines, best practices, and standards.
- Contribute to release notes and monitor production issues, triaging fixes as needed.
- Experience working closely with product managers and engineers to plan, prioritise, and deliver work, or previously worked as a product owner.
- Proficiency in Figma, UI libraries, design systems, and UX/UI best practices.
- Experience in web app and/or mobile app design.
- Familiarity with AI tools is a plus.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally.
- Basic understanding of HTML/CSS.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and shifting deadlines; able to pragmatically trade off scope while pursuing the end goal.
- An engineering, computer science, or programming background is a plus but not required.
- Base pay range: A$60,000.00 - A$120,000.00 per year
