The key duties of the position include
The Role
Aviation Support Systems Program Office (AvSSPO) delivers Chief of Air Force Product Schedules 26 (CAF26) and 39 (CAF39) and is seeking a professional and motivated APS 6 Administration Team Leader to lead the Business Operations team assuring Business Processes, Records Management, Facilities Management, Financial compliance and SPO Task Management within an integrated workforce.
The role includes:
- Be accountable to allocate work, resources and tasks, set work area priorities, develop strategies and evaluate business outcomes.
- Accountable for accurate completion of work within timeframes, share own expertise with others and guide and mentor less experienced employees.
- Accountable to perform complex procedural, operational, administrative and business support activities, manage workflow and resources, prepare work area and team plans detailing measurable milestones and expected outcomes.
- Build and sustain effective relationships with team members and actively participate in teamwork and group activities.
- Work collaboratively, operate as an effective team member and provide constructive feedback.
- Interpret and comply with legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks.
- Design solutions to issues influencing the achievement of desired outcomes.
About our Team
AvSSPO operates as an acquisition and sustainment management unit under the Navy Aviation, Aircrew Training and Commons Branch (NATC), which forms part of Joint Aviation Systems Division (JASD). JASD is one of 10 major divisions operating within the Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG) inside the Department of Defence. This position is located in the Melbourne CBD.

The successful candidate will need to be able to understand and interpret policy and apply it to AvSSPO's business. The role requires someone who is experienced in stakeholder engagement and possesses planning and management skills. Organisational and interpersonal skills with a strong focus on performance and governance are also key. We are looking for leaders who can demonstrate their ability to manage priorities to deliver organisational capability.
The successful applicant will have:
- An ability to work independently, professionally handling sensitive data and information with experience in the use of Defence Corporate systems.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and complete tasks with varying levels of complexity.
- Demonstrated ability to support strategic direction through planning and governance functions, set work area priorities, manage workflows, develop strategies and evaluate business outcomes;
- Ability to resolve problems using critical thinking and sound judgment, taking the initiative to identify alternative courses of action.
- Demonstrated ability to work within a diverse team in a fast paced and highly variable environment.
