About The Opportunity: This position is within the Inpatient Nursing Department of the Mercy Care Centre Young.

Responsibilities
  • To provide care to patients in accordance with care plans, policies and procedures.
  • To provide accurate and timely documentation relevant to patient care.
  • To provide best practice care as a pivotal member of the multidisciplinary hospital team
  • Retain responsibility for his/her actions and remains accountable for all delegated functions
  • To work in consultation with other staff to provide relevant and timely information.
  • Participate in the quality process

To Thrive In This Role, You Will Have
  • Minimum Certificate III Health Service Assistance (Assistant in Nursing Work in Acute care)
  • Excellent clinical, time management, organisational and communication skills, with the ability to adapt and problem solve.
  • A compassionate, flexible and positive approach to effective patient care and management.
  • The ability to nurture friendly, respectful relationships and contribute to a collaborative team environment.

You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining:

  • A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.
  • Proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders.

Required Qualifications
  • Successful completion of HLT32507 Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (Descriptor: Assisting in Nursing Work in Acute Care)
  • Good knowledge of basic nursing care including observations of temperature, pulse and blood pressure and assistance with activities of daily living.
  • Demonstrated effective written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under supervision and provide care within a multidisciplinary care setting.
  • Sound knowledge of Infection Control standard precautions.
  • A thorough knowledge of scope of practice and a demonstrated ability to work within scope boundaries.
