About the Role
The Opportunity:
As a Data Engineer at Aurora Energy, you'll be instrumental in transforming our data and analytics capabilities. You'll play a pivotal role in delivering both immediate enhancements and long-term strategic solutions that directly impact business transformation and customer experience outcomes. This role is open to applicants based in either Hobart or Launceston.
Key Responsibilities:
In this role, you will:
- Client Consultation: Engage with internal stakeholders to understand their data needs and translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Solution & Data Architecture: Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable data pipelines and architectures, ensuring data integrity and accessibility. You'll be instrumental in optimizing our data landscape within Snowflake, ensuring efficient data storage, processing, and retrieval.
- Data Analytics: Support data analysis initiatives, providing clean, reliable data for reporting and insights.
- Data Governance: Advocate for and implement best practices in data governance, ensuring data quality, security, and compliance.
- Stakeholder Management: Collaborate effectively with various teams, communicating technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify opportunities to enhance our data platforms and processes, contributing to a culture of ongoing innovation. This includes leveraging tools like Matillion for efficient data integration and transformation, and optimizing data delivery for reporting through Power BI.
What You'll Bring:
- Proven experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role.
- Strong expertise in designing, building, and optimizing data pipelines and data warehouses.
- Hands-on experience with Snowflake for cloud data warehousing.
- Proficiency in data integration and ETL/ELT tools, with specific experience using Matillion highly regarded.
- Experience with data visualization and reporting tools, particularly Power BI.
- A solid understanding of data governance principles and best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a curious mindset, always seeking innovative solutions.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- A passion for continuous learning and improvement in the data landscape.

About You
- A degree in computer science, system analysis or related study and equivalent experience
- Demonstrated experience in the data analytics and business intelligence solutions field, with exposure to data warehousing, cloud technology, integration and data management systems
- Experience in the practical application of new and emerging technologies
- Strong stakeholder management skills (Connection)
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills (Vision)
- Knowledge of financial models and budgeting
- Ability to work with partners in an outsourced environment (Connection)
- Proven experience in agile ways of working (Action)
