Senior Automation Test Engineer with Cypress & Playwright

We are seeking a Senior Automation Test Engineer with strong expertise in Cypress and Playwright, and familiarity with Selenium as an advantage. The successful candidate will lead the design, development, and maintenance of robust automated test frameworks to ensure the delivery of high-quality enterprise applications. Location: Sydney, NSW, Australia.



Overview

Senior Automation Test Engineer responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automated test frameworks, with emphasis on Cypress and Playwright; experience with Selenium is a plus.



Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of automated test scripts using Cypress and Playwright.
  • Enhance and support existing Selenium-based test suites where required.
  • Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and QA teams to define test requirements, acceptance criteria, and automation strategies.
  • Drive automation coverage for functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing across web applications.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines for continuous quality validation.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive test documentation, including plans, cases, and execution reports.
  • Mentor junior testers and provide guidance on best practices in automation frameworks.
  • Identify, log, and track defects using tools such as JIRA or Azure DevOps.
  • Conduct test coverage analysis to ensure alignment with quality standards.


Skills & Experience
  • Hands-on experience with Cypress and Playwright automation frameworks.
  • Exposure to Selenium WebDriver is highly desirable.
  • Strong programming skills in JavaScript/TypeScript (Python or Java is a plus).
  • Proficiency in CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or GitHub Actions.
  • Familiarity with BDD/TDD frameworks (e.g., Cucumber, Mocha/Chai).
  • Solid understanding of modern web technologies (HTML5, CSS, REST APIs).
  • Experience in Agile/Scrum delivery environments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and leadership qualities.


Desirable
  • Experience with cross-browser testing and cloud-based platforms like BrowserStack or Sauce Labs.
  • Exposure to performance testing and accessibility compliance (WCAG).
