An exciting opportunity for a Design Manager - Electrical HV Transmission to oversee the design and delivery of major high-voltage power infrastructure across Australia. You'll join a nationally recognised engineering consultancy with deep expertise in the power, utilities, and renewable energy sectors, and play a key leadership role in the development of the transmission grid of the future.

With a strong pipeline of projects and a technically elite engineering team behind you, this role offers both complexity and career progression.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate the design delivery of HV electrical transmission projects (110kV to 500kV)
  • Oversee designs for primary and secondary systems, including protection, control, earthing, HV layout
  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers and drafters across multiple project phases
  • Ensure technical compliance with relevant Australian and international standards
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, and project managers to drive on-time, high-quality outcomes
  • Provide technical governance, review, and sign-off on design documentation
  • Support business development and project planning through design scoping and estimation

About You
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • 10+ years' experience in HV transmission electrical design (substations or overhead lines)
  • Deep knowledge of Australian electrical standards and utility design practices
  • Strong capability across primary, secondary, and protection/control design
  • Experience leading design teams or acting in a lead engineer capacity
  • CPEng or NER accreditation (or working toward)
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • International applicants must hold work rights for Australia
