A specialist software consultancy working in the airline industry. The team builds technology used globally to detect anomalies and prevent revenue loss. It's a small, entrepreneurial environment with a focus on ownership and problem-solving.
Purpose of the role
The focus of this role is SQL engineering. You'll be part of the core platform team, investigating anomalies, debugging system issues and ensuring performance at scale. Most of the work is SQL with Python used for automation. Problems range from straightforward fixes to complex investigations, so structured thinking and efficient coding are essential.
What you will be doing
- Investigating anomalies and debugging SQL code
- Optimising performance across a large SQL codebase
- Using Python for automation and workflow support
- Applying structured problem-solving and coding fundamentals
- Taking ownership of tickets from investigation to resolution
Requirements
- 12–18 months commercial software engineering experience
- Strong SQL skills (optimisation, debugging, performance tuning)
- Understanding of algorithms, data structures and coding fundamentals
- Confident communicator who asks questions directly
- Self-starter who works well in an unstructured environment
This is a role with early ownership and visibility. It suits someone ambitious who wants to grow quickly, build technical depth and gain expertise in complex data systems.
