Illawarra Metallurgical Coal (IMC) produces premium quality, hard coking coal for steelmaking, which is transported within Australia and around the world. We operate two underground metallurgical coal mines, two preparation plants and a logistics chain.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This role is a Permanent position based at the Cordeaux Colliery, which is near the coastal city of Wollongong, NSW, approximately 75 kilometres southwest of Sydney.

As the Gas Laboratory Supervisor, you will be responsible for leading the gas laboratory team to deliver operational tasks while maintaining accreditation, promoting safety, and driving continuous improvement.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren't limited to:

  • Overseeing daily operations & ensuring efficient task completion.
  • Maintaining gas laboratory accreditation & regulatory compliance.
  • Managing equipment calibration, maintenance & operational standards.
  • Conducting non-conformance investigations & implementing corrective actions.
  • Providing leadership, coaching & fostering a culture of safety & continuous improvement.

ABOUT YOU

  • Prior Laboratory experience and knowledge of their Information Management Systems (LIMS).
  • Knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 & NATA requirements.
  • Gas Chromatography (GC) & Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) experience (desirable).
  • Auditing processes & safety risk assessments.
  • Effective team leadership, communication & decision-making skills.

Qualifications for this position are:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in a related field.
