Test Engineer
Main DutiesDuties may include, but are not limited to:
- Executing assigned test cases across testing stages on appropriate platforms.
- Developing test plans, cases, task cards, and supporting data based on provided specifications.
- Analyzing and reporting test activities and results; escalating issues and risks.
- Contributing to team improvements, including tools, processes, and automation.
- Identifying, managing, and documenting defects and errors.
- Conducting testing to ensure ICT services meet requirements.
- Creating test data within external vendor environments.
- Recording time and effort accurately.
- Allocating work to team members based on complexity and capability.
- Providing training and assistance to less experienced testers.
- Supporting adherence to business processes and delivery outcomes.
- Maintaining knowledge of ICT legislation, policies, and transferring knowledge to team members.
- Collaborating with stakeholders for project implementation.
- Advising external vendors on testing and development.
- Assisting with cost analysis activities as required.

This is a contract position starting October 1st, 2023, and will last for 12 months. There is an option for two 6-month extensions, bringing the total duration to 24 months.
The ideal candidate will be an Australian Citizen with the necessary Security Clearance level.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Test Engineer at Services Australia, you will be responsible for managing planning, monitoring, and execution of testing activities within the agency.
You will ensure that your testing efforts are effectively executed, following established guidelines, and provide technical advice to less experienced testers.
You will exercise independent judgment, make decisions within defined parameters, plan your work, and contribute to team goals amid changing priorities and workplace practices.
Key SkillsSkill for the Information Age (SFIA) Level 4 in Methods and Tools (METL).
You will need to think strategically, consider broader influences, support and assist others, build rapport and maintain stakeholder relationships, investigate issues, and escalate as needed.
You will also need to clarify expectations, address concerns, communicate clearly and confidently, manage time and organize work effectively, contribute to team plans, analyze information, recommend actions, and make informed decisions based on knowledge and judgment.
