EOI High Voltage Design Engineer

EOI High Voltage Design Engineer - Secondary Systems. Location: UGL Millers Point, New South Wales, Australia. This is an Expression of Interest opportunity for a pipeline of work towards the end of 2025, across rail projects in Sydney.

• Plan and conduct professional engineering work on relevant aspects of HV Secondary Systems (Protection, Communications, Data Networks, etc.).
• Provide detailed design services on specialist engineering areas including Protection Detailed Design (Protection Logic/Setting files), Primary Plant and Secondary Systems Equipment Specification and Procurement (Circuit Breakers, CT, VT, etc.), Protection & Control Detail Schematics and Integration, Load flow, fault level power quality and dynamic studies and analyses, and Communication Systems design (including Data Network using IEC 61850 protocol).
• Develop specifications and interface with management on design issues.
• Demonstrate understanding of HV protection systems.
• Check design work for technical accuracy and adequacy.
• Have working knowledge of cable sizing software and HV modelling software.
• Assist with site commissioning and attend meetings with customers to resolve technical issues.

• University degree in Electrical/Power Systems Engineering (or equivalent).
• 8+ years minimum relevant experience in HV substation and HV distribution networks.
• Knowledge of HV distribution design including relevant Australian and International standards and codes.
• Fundamental understanding of HV secondary design.
• Site experience/experience in projects being constructed and commissioned.
• Skilled at or able to learn software packages independently (e.g., CYMCAP, DIgSILENT Power Factory); would be an added advantage.
