A cadetship combines full-time employment with paid study and on-the-job learning. As a Cadet Environmental Health Officer, you'll work alongside experienced professionals in inspections, investigations, and public health programs while being supported through your Bachelor of Science (Environmental Health).

What We Will Offer
  • A two (2) year cadetship in local government
  • Work towards your Bachelor of Science (Environmental Health) while getting hands on experience working full-time
  • Starting salary of $2,582.98 gross per fortnight plus superannuation
  • 10 paid study days per year and access to Council's flexible working arrangements

Types of tasks / activities you'll complete
  • Assist with inspections of food premises, public swimming pools, skin penetration premises, water systems, and more
  • Support investigations into environmental complaints and public health issues
  • Develop knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation applicable to the performance of the duties of this position
  • Assist in implementing health programs and ensuring compliance with legislation
  • Prepare reports, correspondence, and data for environmental health projects
  • Participate in community education and health promotion activities

Cadetship information

This full-time, 35-hour-per-week role offers the perfect blend of study and hands-on experience. You'll continue your uni studies while developing the skills needed for a rewarding career in environmental health; an in-demand profession with strong career pathways in local and state government.

What You Will Need To Succeed
  • Current enrolment in a Bachelor of Science (Environmental Health)
  • Current Class C Driver's Licence
  • Full rights to work and study in Australia
