Overview

Join to apply for the Superintendent Drill & Blast role at Rio Tinto.

We are looking for an experienced Superintendent to provide leadership to large drill and blast teams across the Pilbara Mine Operations to ensure all aspects of a complex drilling & blasting operation are conducted safely and efficiently.

Reporting to the Manager Mining, you will be responsible for leading a safety-focused culture, performance management, training and career development for your team, and driving collaboration with other departments to achieve wider business objectives.

Your safety and wellbeing are priorities, with a modern work environment and quality tools to support your role. This is a great opportunity with complex challenges for someone with an extensive background in Drill & Blast or Mine Production and strong leadership and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities
  • Be responsible for the development of a strong safety culture, ensuring adherence to relevant statutory regulations and Rio Tinto Iron Ore standards and policies
  • Lead a team including performance management, training and career development
  • Assist in recruiting your team and drive employee engagement through consistent and fair leadership
  • Measure, record and analyse reporting on all drill and blast activities to consistently achieve plan and improve performance
  • Collaborate with other departments to achieve wider business objectives
About You
  • Drill and Blast or Mine Production knowledge and experience
  • Collaborative approach and positive attitude
  • Proven leadership qualities and experience in leading and developing large teams
  • Cost control management and budgeting experience
  • Ability to work under pressure and coordinate multiple priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
  • A current WA unrestricted Quarry Manager's ticket
