Teacher Librarian

Overview

Thomas Reddall High School, located in Ambarvale, New South Wales, is seeking a permanent full-time Teacher Librarian. Location: Cnr Woodhouse Drive & Jaggers Place, Ambarvale 2560 NSW, Australia. Job reference 0000B0JY. Closing date: September 17, 2025, 2 a.m. (AEST).

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain a vibrant, inclusive, and well-resourced library that functions as a flexible, technology-rich learning environment supporting students across all stages.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to develop and deliver curriculum-aligned programs that enhance literacy, numeracy, and research skills, with particular attention to the academic needs of Stage 6 students.
• Promote student engagement and wellbeing through inclusive practices and proactive behaviour management strategies that support learners from diverse backgrounds, including students with disabilities.
• Curate a broad range of print and digital resources aligned with curriculum goals and student interests, ensuring equitable access for all.
• Through explicit teaching of information literacy, digital citizenship, and critical thinking, empower students to become independent and ethical users of information.
• Build strong communication and interpersonal relationships with staff, students, parents/carers, and the wider community.
• Lead innovative initiatives that elevate the library's role as a central learning hub, incorporating emerging technologies and supporting inquiry-based, student-driven learning.

Specific Selection Criteria

• Approval to teach Library (Secondary) or currently enrolled in Library (Secondary) qualifications approved by the NSW Department of Education.
• Well-developed skills in managing student behaviour, engagement and wellbeing, with a proven capacity to support students from diverse backgrounds, including those with a disability.
• Capacity to implement a creative and flexible approach to managing a library that also functions as a learning hub to support literacy, numeracy and the learning of Stage 6 students.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

Notes

If applicable, engagement will be temporary until successful completion of the Teacher Librarian qualifications as recognised by the NSW Department of Education which must be completed within 24 months. Applicants are to include details of their WWCC clearance number as part of this application.
