Are you a data-driven finance professional with a passion for analytics? Join our Financial Performance and Assurance team as a Junior Commercial Analyst and play a crucial role in delivering insights that drive informed business decisions.
About the Role
As a Junior Commercial Analyst, you will be responsible for leveraging advanced data analytics to support month-end reporting, regulatory obligations, and business insights. Working as part of a collaborative Finance Performance and Analysis team of four, you will contribute to financial modelling, reporting, and operational processes that enable strategic decision-making.
Your Key Responsibilities
Financial Modelling, Analysis, and Reporting:
- Manipulate, analyse, and synthesise large volumes of data using automation tools such as Power Pivot and Power BI.
- Provide direct data, insights, and analytical support to the Senior Commercial Analyst – Retirement Living, Housing, and Property.
- Actively lead the village budget process and support quarterly and annual reporting.
- Participate in monthly meetings with village and housing managers.
- Conduct internal benchmarking of similar projects and external benchmarking where possible.
- Assist in the formulation and documentation of financial and operational data governance, data catalogue, and data quality assurance processes.
Operational Processes:
- Support the month-end, budgeting, and rolling forecast workstreams.
- Ensure the timely completion of regulatory obligations.
- Develop clear, concise, and insightful communication materials.
- Support the execution of new initiatives to enhance financial performance.
- Proactively identify opportunities and challenges, assessing potential financial impacts.
- Identify and implement process improvements.
What We're Looking For
Qualifications:
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting/Finance.
- Current membership or working towards membership in CPA Australia (CPA), Chartered Accountants Australia (ICAA), or CFA Institute.
Experience & Skills:
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a finance, commercial, or business analyst role.
- Strong experience in producing accurate and timely management reports.
- Proven ability to manage large volumes of data, analyse trends, and extract key insights.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (e.g., Power Pivot, VBA, Macros).
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to navigate a complex organisation and build strong relationships.
Bonus Skills (Highly Desirable):
- Experience using Power BI and Adaptive Insights (or similar tools).
- Prior experience in Retirement Living or Property analytics.
