What you'll be doing

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Technical Officer who possesses a passion for patient-centred care. The successful applicant will perform a range of Clinical Chemistry laboratory investigations and tests (manual and automated) in a fast-paced multitasking environment, applying established methods and procedures as directed. They will undertake other laboratory duties including preparation of materials and the maintenance of equipment in line with established laboratory processes, procedures and protocols within Clinical Chemistry, Toxicology and RIA Laboratories.

What you'll be doing – responsibilities
  • Perform a range of clinical chemistry investigations and tests (manual and automated)
  • Prepare materials and maintain laboratory equipment in line with established processes
  • Contribute to quality and safety in Clinical Chemistry, Toxicology and RIA Laboratories
Qualifications and experience
  • Minimum qualification of Diploma in Laboratory Technology or an equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution with subjects relevant to pathology or medical laboratory operations
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in delivering pathology services within a relevant discipline, including use of Laboratory Information Systems, Patient Systems and Quality Systems
  • Ability to work with competing priorities to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work in a team environment while delivering results autonomously
  • Customer-focused approach with well-developed interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Initiative, problem-solving and analytical skills with ability to apply established principles in a pathology laboratory
  • Commitment to quality management and continuous quality improvement, and to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities
