Manager - Infrastructure Services

The Manager of Infrastructure Services leads Lactalis Australia's IT infrastructure and systems by directing a team of System Administrators and Infrastructure specialists. The role ensures that IT infrastructure services and systems remain resilient, supportable, cost-effective, and secure, while consistently delivering the functionality and technology expected by users.
Responsibilities- Infrastructure Management: Ensure smooth operation of both on-premises and cloud systems, including servers, networks, storage, backups, and data centres.
- Team Leadership & Staff Development: Lead and support the ICT Infrastructure team by managing workloads, mentoring staff, and encouraging professional growth.
- Projects and System Change: Sponsor and provide technical leadership for infrastructure projects from planning to completion, ensuring they meet deadlines, budgets, and business goals.
- Security & Compliance: Work with the Cyber Security team to identify and address potential security risks in Lactalis Australia's infrastructure, systems and processes under their control.
- Incident & Problem Management: Act as the escalation point for complex technical issues, ensuring quick resolution and thorough root cause analysis. Lead reviews after major incidents to drive improvements.
- Budget, Vendor & Asset Management: Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and services agreements. Maintain accurate records of infrastructure assets and look for ways to reduce costs to contribute to budgeting and long-term planning.
- Strategy & Innovation: Provide input into ICT strategy by identifying trends and recommending new technologies that enhance performance, efficiency, or scalability.
The Manager, Infrastructure Services role requires a blend of leadership, technical expertise, and strategic thinking. Candidates must have a:
- 7+ years of experience in IT infrastructure and systems administration, supported by a Graduate Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology (equivalent industry experience acceptable).
- Technically, proficiency in managing both on-premises and cloud-based systems, particularly Microsoft Windows Server, SQL Server, and Red Hat Linux. Familiarity with virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V), backup and disaster recovery (Veeam, Azure Site Recovery), and monitoring tools (PRTG, SolarWinds, Splunk). Experience managing large Microsoft 365 and Azure environments is advantageous, as is a solid grasp of infrastructure automation tools like Morpheus.
- Security and networking knowledge with working familiarity of firewalls, VPNs, SIEM tools, and compliance frameworks such as ISO 27001 and NIST.
- Strong leadership capabilities, including team development, project oversight, vendor management, and strategic input. Proactive, detail-oriented, and adaptable, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
