At InterContinental Adelaide, our fine dining venue, Shiki, brings the art of Japanese cuisine to life through precision, passion, and performance. Every plate has the potential to create a memory that lasts a lifetime for our guests. To deliver all this and more, we're currently seeking a Commi Chef to join the award-winning team at Shiki, where every plate is a celebration of tradition, technique, and exceptional taste.

Your day-to-day:

As Commi Chef at Shiki, you'll play a vital role in delivering authentic and unforgettable dining experiences. Reporting to our Chef de Cuisine, you'll be responsible for:

• Assist in the preperation and presentation of high-quality Japenses cuisine, such as teppanyaki, sushi, sashimi, and hot dishes.
• Skillfully working on the Teppanyaki grill to create memorable experinces
• Taking ownership for your workstation mise en place– keeping on top of supplies, equipment and waste
• Keep your work area clean and follow all food safett and hygiene requirements to HACCP standards
• Work as a team with chefs and waitstaff to give guests an excellent dining experience.
• Ability to work on your own with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment.
  
  

What We need from you:

• The flexibility to work night, weekend and holiday shifts
• Have previous experience working Teppanyaki grill
• Similar experience in a commercial kitchen - preferably within premium casual dining experience at a minimum
• Qualifications in Commercial Cookery/Culinary Arts from a registered training provider
• A strong understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations including your food safety certificate
• Great communication – you'll be warm, welcoming and easy to talk to
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritise workload
• Right to legally work full time in Australia
• The strength to lift, push and pull big objects up to 23 kg (50lbs) which can also involve bending and kneeling
