Overview

Orthopedic Technician - Orthopaedics Office at Summa Health. Akron, OH 44320. Full Time / Monday - Friday Schedule / Benefits Eligible.

Responsibilities
  • Assists physicians in all aspects of an Orthopedic/Sports Medicine medical office. Assisting with casting, splinting, DME (durable medical equipment) and general patient and surgical care.
  • Assists in procedure and general maintenance of equipment, supplies and exam rooms.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Formal Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Orthopedic Technologist Certification preferred
  • Experience and Training Required: One year PTA, OTA, Exercise Physiology, Medical Assistant (with Orthopedic/Sports Medicine experience) in lieu of Ortho Tech Certification.
  • Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications: Knowledge of anatomy and physiology; Knowledge of medical terminology; Basic computer skill; Population Specific Competency: Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity.
  • Level of Physical Demands: Light work; Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to ten pounds of force frequently; Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time; Must be able to bend, stoop and lift; Dexterity to use clinical instruments and equipment; Dexterity to operate basic office equipment.
