Working to protect the state's environment and heritage.

About the roles

National Parks and Wildlife Service has a unique opportunity for a Senior Project Officer to lead a master planning program for a multi tenure connected walk in the Central Coast NSW.

The roles focus on master planning and project delivery across multiple asset and construction projects focused on visitor and operational infrastructure within National Parks reserves across Hunter Central Coast.

The key Senior Project Officer role will lead the project delivery of a Master Plan with procurement actions to engage and manage master planning contractors, route design, environmental feasibilities, consultation with major partner and local councils and key stakeholders throughout the process, within agreed timelines, budgets and within the NSW government election commitment intent. This role will not be leading construction delivery on ground works and is focused on planning at a landscape level.

As a Senior Project Officer you will manage a project team, providing guidance and support, monitoring and appraising work performance and facilitating their ongoing professional development to ensure they are fully capable to successfully deliver all key project milestones and outcomes.

About you

Your passion for your community and environment, coupled with a strong attention to detail and proficiency in project management will be key to your success in this role. You'll be adept in providing high level specialist advice and information to stakeholders on emerging project issues and to support project development and delivery in line with established plans, budgets, timeframes, policy and environmental objectives and other project and priorities.

You will have the ability to lead the team on procurement and contract management, including contractor supervision of remote works projects which will require regular travel throughout the Hunter Central Coast region.

Essential requirements

  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications or demonstrated equivalent, relevant professional experience.
  • Project management skills and experience with an understanding of contemporary best practice in procurement, tendering and contract preparation, in managing project teams, consultants and contractors, and in applying environmental safety and risk management policies and systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing and reviewing strategic plans, policies and programs, and in providing strategic and operational advice and recommendations to senior management.
