Base pay range

A$150,000.00/yr - A$180,000.00/yr

Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia's future.

Downer Professional Services is comprised of two business units, our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice and Team Downer, a major service partner to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for our clients in Defence and National Security.

We are seeking a highly motivated Cyber Engineer to deliver strategically significant capability to the Space Branch. They are responsible for performing complex cyber and information security work within an integrated workforce. They are accountable to ensure they have knowledge of and compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence's mission and policy requirements.

What You'll Do

  • Accountable to conduct complex security risk assessment and provide advice on the application of procedural security controls.
  • Understand the security features and capabilities of current Defence and industry accepted hardware and software products and provide advice.
  • Provide complex specialist advice to explain systems security and the strengths and weaknesses.
  • Interpret security policy and contribute to the development of standards that comply with Defence policy and procedures.
  • Review information system designs for weaknesses and potential breaches in security.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related engineering field
  • Demonstrated experience in cybersecurity engineering and risk assessment
  • Experience with security policy interpretation and standards development, and familiarity with Defence governance, compliance requirements and Australian Government security regulations and guidelines
  • Experience with security certification, accreditation processes, and with security risk assessment methodologies and frameworks
  • Comprehensive understanding of cybersecurity principles, practices, and technologies, and knowledge of hardware and software security features and capabilities

Our work is highly complex and confidential; applicants must be Australian citizens with a minimum NV2 security clearance. Additionally, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may be necessary. In some cases, this may impose restrictions individuals who are dual citizens, permanent residency, or former nationality of specific countries as outlined in ITAR 126.1.
