Health & Safety Culture Officer

Open to applicants interested in 0.2 to 0.4 FTE (Flexible days/hours).

St Brendan-Shaw College is a Catholic, co-educational secondary school located in Devonport catering for students from Years 7 to 12. The College is committed to creating a learning environment that fosters excellence, compassion and service in our students.

Responsibilities
  • Reporting to the Principal through the Business & Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the WHS requirements across the College including the implementation of WHS and compliance processes and reporting structures to ensure that the College meets required compliance obligations, promoting a safety management and risk awareness culture, and building a durable systemic safety management system.
  • Lead a strong safety culture in the school, supporting the Principal.
  • Review and monitor high‑risk activities such as school camps and excursions, as well as on‑campus carnivals, to ensure appropriate risk assessment and management.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the school community, including parents/guardians, caregivers and volunteers, to achieve effective outcomes.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents ensuring appropriate action is determined and implemented.
Qualifications
  • Tertiary qualifications in Workplace Health & Safety
  • Experience and demonstrated proficiency in Workplace Health & Safety management
  • Valid Working with Vulnerable People Registration
  • Understanding and experience in corporate governance, risk management and compliance

Salary will be in accordance with the Tasmanian Catholic Education Single Enterprise Agreement 2018.
