  The School
  
  Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School has over 2900 students from K-12 at campuses in Moonee Ponds, Essendon and Keilor East. We have outstanding staff, facilities and programmes to enhance student wellbeing and learning and develop courageous, creative, curious, ethical, persistent, reflective and strategic thinkers. PEGS promotes the safety, wellbeing and participation of all students, including supporting children from culturally diverse backgrounds and those with individual needs.
  
  The Role
  
  We are seeking a qualified, enthusiastic and caring Learning Assistant to support student learning and wellbeing at our Middle School Boys campus in Keilor East (Years 7 to 10). This is a fixed-term, part-time (0.5) position for Term 3 of the 2025 school year, commencing 25 July 2025 to 12 September 2025.
  
  The role is 38 hours per fortnight, with working days being Thursdays and Fridays each week, and every second Wednesday. Daily hours are 8am to 4.06pm.
  
  There may also be opportunities for casual work beyond the contract period.
  
  Key Responsibilities
  
  Under the guidance and supervision of teaching staff, the Learning Assistant will:
  • Support student learning in classrooms, working with individuals and small groups
  • Assist in preparing and organising classroom materials and resources
  • Monitor and report on student wellbeing
  • Supervise students during non-classroom activities such as recess, excursions, and sports
  • Help maintain a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment
  • Provide support to students with additional needs (e.g. allergies, disabilities, learning challenges)
  • Participate in school events and activities as required
    
    
  About You
  
  The ideal candidate will have:
  • Relevant experience in a similar role
  • A Certificate III or higher relevant qualification
  • Current first aid accreditation
  • A genuine passion for supporting student learning and wellbeing
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • A collaborative and flexible approach to working with staff and students
