In this pivotal role, you'll lead the continuous improvement of UQ's travel booking processes, driving compliance, efficiency, and an exceptional experience for our travellers. You'll also forge and maintain strategic partnerships with our third-party travel providers while championing travel risk management, compliance, and the safety of UQ travellers.
You'll collaborate closely with the Senior Manager, University Travel, UQ's travel service providers, and the UQ Insurance Services team and will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic, supportive environment where your expertise is valued, your development is encouraged, and your work creates real impact.
Key responsibilities will include:
Support the Senior Manager, University Travel to review and maintain the ongoing delivery of travel-related initiatives.
Support the Senior Manager, University Travel to maintain strategic relationships with the University's corporate travel provider(s) to ensure services are delivered to agreed standards including value for money for UQ.
Work with internal stakeholders to maintain compliance with processes, procedures and systems to effectively and efficiently manage UQ Travel and promote traveller safety and positive traveller experience.
Work with UQ's emergency assistance provider and UQ Insurance team members to provide support for travel assistance matters.
Provide reliable reporting / information and appropriate support to decision makers in relation to matters impacting UQ Travel and travellers and to meet UQ's duty of care obligations.
Prepare the annual overseas travel report for the Queensland Government
Develop and implement relevant communications and appropriate training programs including guidelines, presentations, facilitated workshops and awareness sessions to help protect the University as well as travellers.
Play a key role in enforcing the requirements of the UQ Travel Policy.
Develop and publish on the UQ Travel website information and guidance to support UQ travellers around UQ travel policy/procedure and travel risk management.
Oversee the day-to-day management of enquiries to the UQ Travel team, providing supervision and guidance to the Senior Travel Officer as required.
Act as alternate for the Senior Manager, University Travel when required.
Perform other travel-related functions and assignments as instructed by the Senior Manager, University Travel.

Demonstrated relevant extensive experience and expertise in travel management; or Postgraduate qualifications with extensive experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
Experience of managing operational travel teams, within a complex environment.
Previous experience implementing or using travel management tools and travel tracking platforms.
Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain productive relationships and to negotiate, network and consult with key stakeholders effectively.
Outstanding communication skills (written and verbal), providing authoritative advice to confidently articulate complex issues and provide well-researched information to senior managers, staff, and other internal and external stakeholders.
Excellent organisational and planning skills, including proven experience in successfully managing and implementing projects and strategic initiatives.
Demonstrated personal responsibility in meeting objectives, including the ability to recognise and resolve issues impacting on the achievement of required outcomes.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, underpinned by strong business acumen.
The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia, criminal check, education check.
