
Network Engineer

Hamilton Island is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to join our Information Technology team. This is a hands-on technical role responsible for implementing changes and upgrades to the network infrastructure according to business priority, ensuring changes adhere to standards and a philosophy of consolidation/amalgamation where feasible.
Reporting to the Senior Architect, you'll also support long-term strategic planning for our network infrastructure with the aim of migrating systems to the cloud, maintaining business processes and continuity, and aligning with budgets. During busy periods you'll assist the Help Desk and participate in the after hours support roster.

- Implement network changes and upgrades across LAN, WAN, WiFi, firewalls, routers, switches (core and edge), hubs and cabling
- Monitor internet gateway access and performance, plus measurements, reporting and alerts
- Apply network protocols and security across TCP/IP, routing, VPNs and OSI layers 1 to 5
- Lead the project lifecycle: build business cases, plan schedules and resources, maintain risk and issue registers, act as Change Manager, coordinate testing and stakeholder sign-off, hand over to support, and decommission/archive redundant systems
- Manage vendor relationships: maintain relationships, monitor performance and costs, track releases and updates, and refine agreements
- Assist with day-to-day work orders according to business priority and team workload
- Evaluate new technology to identify business improvements
- Support the Help Desk during busy periods and participate in the after hours support roster
- Degree qualified in a related discipline - (Essential)
- Minimum 5 years' experience in network infrastructure - (Essential)
- Significant IT industry knowledge - (Essential)
- Demonstrated working knowledge of systems infrastructure - (Essential)
- Project Management qualifications - (Desirable)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, friendly and enthusiastic attitude, reliable and flexible
