The Opportunity

The Health Economics Group (HEG) is seeking a talented and driven Research Fellow to contribute to a portfolio of nationally significant projects focused on the economics of mental health. Based within the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine – one of the largest and most impactful public health schools in the Asia Pacific – HEG supports evidence-informed health system improvement through robust economic analysis.

This is your opportunity to lead or support high-impact economic evaluations, contribute to methodological innovation in modelling and data analytics, and help shape policy that improves lives.

As a Research Fellow, you will:
  • Conduct applied research in health economics, particularly focused on economic evaluation, cost modelling, and the economics of mental health

  • Support economic analysis of healthcare utilisation, outcomes and costs using national datasets

  • Develop and apply algorithms for cost-effectiveness analysis, burden of disease, and health system modelling

  • Prepare high-quality manuscripts, reports, and funding proposals

  • Collaborate across interdisciplinary teams, government, and health service partners

We're looking for someone who brings:
  • A relevant qualification in health economics, public health (with strong economics focus), or data science

  • Strong skills in health economic evaluation, statistical programming (R or Stata preferred), and scientific computing

  • Excellent problem-solving, planning and written communication skills

  • Experience working with health-related data and modelling methods

  • A collaborative, independent, and organised approach to research

Desirable (not essential) skills include experience with version control (e.g. GitHub), automated reporting (e.g. R Markdown), or interactive dashboard development (e.g. R Shiny).

The successful applicant will be appointed at either Level A or Level B, commensurate with qualifications and relevant experience. Please specify in your cover letter the level that you are applying for.
