We are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join our team. The successful candidate will play a key role in upholding safety standards in a high-risk environment and supporting our ongoing commitment to safety excellence.

About the Role

Based in our Melbourne CBD office with regular travel to our Otway and BassGas plants, the Health & Safety Advisor will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees and contractors. You will be responsible for implementing, and overseeing health and safety programs, policies, and procedures to minimise risks and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

You will provide support to the Production, Campaign and Project teams in the effective implementation of the Health, Safety and Environment Management System.

This position is part time – 4 days per week.

Key responsibilities
  • Implementing and stewarding comprehensive health and safety plans and programs
  • Collaborating with management to promote a positive safety culture and continuous improvement
  • Execution of contractor engagement, capability assessment and assurance activities
  • Facilitating risk assessments and implementing controls
  • Leading incident investigations and ensuring accurate reporting and documentation
  • Conducting hazardous material and Dangerous Goods audits and inspections, hazardous chemical risk assessments
About You

Candidates with a proactive approach to safety and effective communication skills are encouraged to apply.

You will also need:

  • Minimum of a Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Demonstrated experience in health and safety within the oil and gas sector or other high-risk industries.
  • Proven working knowledge of current WHS legislation, regulations, Australian Standards, and relevant codes of practice.
  • Experience in contractor management, managing Dangerous Goods, and incident investigation.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Capacity to work effectively in demanding environments while managing multiple responsibilities concurrently.
