Our Opportunity

HDR's Architecture Business Group is seeking expressions of interest from collaborative and forward-thinking graduates of Architecture with strong technical documentation and drawing skills to support our Melbourne and Sydney studios.

We offer a supportive, team-oriented environment where emerging professionals work closely with experienced project leaders and technical experts. This collaboration provides the opportunity to accelerate learning, gain exposure to all stages of project delivery, and build the experience needed for architectural registration, while contributing to meaningful, large-scale projects.

To support our key sectors — Federal (Defence), Education & Science, Tech/Media/Telecom (Data Centres) and Healthcare — we are looking for talented individuals who thrive in a collaborative environment, are passionate about design excellence, and are motivated to deliver high-quality construction drawings and documentation packages.

About You

You will bring:

  • A Master's degree in Architecture (or equivalent)
  • 2+ years of post-graduate experience
  • Proficiency in Revit; Rhino and Grasshopper are highly regarded
  • A desire to grow capabilities and work toward independently producing high-quality schematic, design development and construction documentation
  • Strong design communication skills and the ability to create compelling presentation graphics
  • Passion for HDR sectors — Federal, Healthcare, Tech/Media/Telecom & Data, Education & Science is a plus
  • Attention to detail and knowledge of current design trends, design research and innovation, resilient/sustainable design, data-driven design and human-centered design
  • Openness to emerging technologies and future workflows
  • Proactive, adaptable working style and willingness to contribute across sectors and project types
  • Baseline or higher Australian Government Security Clearance, or eligible to obtain. Check eligibility at the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency website

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or closely related field
  • Credentials to obtain future registration
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project)
  • Desire to pursue growth opportunities and eventually obtain registration
  • Strong leadership, communication and relationship management skills
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficient in Autodesk Revit; familiarity with related tools and processes
  • Demonstrated graphic presentation skills
  • Commitment to HDR's employee-owned culture
