In 2023, we proudly merged with Early Links, specialists in allied health and early intervention teaching who support over 1,400 children and youth. Together, we support almost 1,800 individuals of all ages, empowering them to achieve their goals and dreams.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Occupational Therapist to join our Occupational Therapy team based out of either our Maitland, Ashtonfield or Kurri Kurri office providing service to the Cessnock or Maitland region. This role involves both community-based therapy and clinic sessions to best suit the needs of our clients.

For a recent graduate, this presents an opportunity to improve your skills in Paediatric Occupational Therapy. For those experienced in Paediatrics, this is an opportunity to develop or continue providing fulfilling therapy to children in need, amongst a dedicated team. We have a diverse caseload made up of all age groups across the paediatric and young adult spectrum.

We'll provide ongoing support and training through regular one-to-one supervision, discipline team meetings, professional development, and external supervision to ensure that your goals and optimal patient outcomes are achieved.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing evidence-based occupational therapy intervention and comprehensive assessments in line with professional and ethical guidelines.
  • Using a holistic, trauma-informed, client-centred approach when working closely with families, carers, teachers, and other health professionals to support clients.
  • Providing consultancy support and working collaboratively with members of the client's team and other service provider stakeholders involved in their support network.
  • Maintaining registration requirements and professional knowledge.
  • Contributing to organisation goals and working within a large team of allied health professionals.
  • Completing progress notes, documenting incidents, and relevant reports.
  • Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of clients, reporting any child protection or WHS concerns.
  • Contributing to a positive, inclusive team culture.

About You

  • Tertiary Qualification in Occupational Therapy.
  • A passion for working with people with a disability and supporting their development.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Understanding of a person-centred approach.
  • Commitment to ConnectAbility's mission and values.
  • Paediatric Occupational Therapy experience (highly desirable).

Essential Requirements:

  • NDIS Worker Screening Check.
  • Working with Children Check (paid employment).
  • NDIS Worker Orientation module completion certificate.
  • Current driver's licence.
  • First Aid & CPR certification.
  • AHPRA Registration.
  • Right to work in Australia.
