We're seeking a commercially driven Management Accountant to join our finance team and help shape strategic decisions with insightful financial analysis. This is a newly created role to focus on reporting, analysis and compliance, empowering leaders to make informed, forward-looking decisions.

About the role:

This full-time Management Accountant role, reporting to the Systems & Finance Manager, will transform numbers into narratives that drive business success—from budgeting and forecasts to strategy and control. This position is not just an accountant — the role will be the navigator steering Al.ive Body toward financial health and growth.

This position will be responsible for the areas of:

Budgeting & Forecasting

Cashflow Management

Month-end close & control

Compliance

Transactional Management

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare internal management accounts, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow forecasts to support strategic discussions.

Analyse financial trends, explain variances, and offer actionable recommendations to improve efficiency and profitability.

Budgeting & Forecasting

Manage budgeting cycles and provide rigor in forecasting and budgeting as per the business plan.

Generate rolling or periodic forecasts and perform scenario modelling

Cashflow Management

Forecast and monitor cash flow to ensure smooth operations and financial stability.

Prepare and update cash flow forecasts to anticipate inflows and outflows, ensuring liquidity aligns with upcoming needs and opportunities.

Month-end Close & Control

Handle reconciliations, journal entries, and maintain accuracy in monthly closing procedures.

Perform thorough reconciliations and examine financial statements for accuracy

Compliance

Ensure full compliance with legal, tax and government requirements.

Lodgement of BAS, IAS, Workcover, Payroll Tax requirements

Transactional Management

Complete bank reconciliations

Payroll processing

Handle the processing of invoices, payments, receipts, and maintain accurate accounts payable/receivable records

Qualifications Required

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field.

Professional certification CPA, CA whilst not a necessity would be highly regarded

At least 5+ years' experience as a management accountant or senior accounting position

Strong financial modeling and analytical capabilities.

Advanced proficiency in Excel, ERP systems (e.g., Cin7, Netstock), and BI tools (Power BI).

Prior experience and enjoy working in a scale up, fast paced, high growth environments.

Experience in Software platforms/ Tools:

Xero Accounting software (or similar cloud-based accounting software)

Microsoft Office suite (high level excel use)

High computer fluency
