Role Overview

Are you a skilled Employment Lawyer looking for your next challenge? A top-tier law firm has partnered with Elevate and seeks a qualified lawyer for an onward secondment with a leading education sector for a 6-month contract to provide expert advice on employment law, employer relations, and safety law. This role will start ASAP and will be based in Sydney with flexibility in a hybrid working arrangement.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and support on a broad range of employment, employee relations, and work health and safety matters, including disciplinary actions, termination processes, and complex workplace complaints.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including HR, Finance, IT, and program leaders—to support an employment law compliance program aligned with legislative and enterprise agreement obligations.
• Support the organisation's strategic response to external regulatory bodies, particularly in relation to wage compliance and reporting obligations under the Fair Work Act 2009.
• Assist in managing internal grievance processes, industrial disputes, enterprise bargaining, and employee relations matters in line with regulatory and enterprise agreement requirements.
• Draft and review employment contracts, enterprise agreements, policies, and internal procedures to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks.
• Participate in internal investigations into misconduct, discrimination, or breaches of workplace policies, ensuring procedural fairness and documentation standards are maintained.

About You

• A minimum of 3-4 years of post-admission experience.
• Deep expertise in employment law, employer relations, and safety law.
• Understanding of risk identification and legal mitigation strategies related to employment law, ensuring the organisation is meeting its workplace relations and WHS obligations.
• A collaborative mindset and ability to provide strategic, fit-for-purpose legal solutions.
