TRA Assessor – Fire Protection Equipment Technician

Are you an experienced Fire Protection Equipment Technician looking to step into a new challenge?

We're seeking skilled professionals across New South Wales and the ACT to become TRA Assessors for evaluating candidates' skills in installing, maintaining, and testing fire protection equipment. This role is about ensuring that applicants meet Australian Standards (AS1851) and uphold the highest safety regulations in the field.

This is a flexible contract role designed for experienced technicians who want to share their expertise in an assessor capacity.

About the Role

As a TRA Assessor – Fire Protection Equipment Technician, you'll:

  • Assess applicants' ability to install, maintain, and test fire protection systems
  • Evaluate knowledge of safety regulations and Australian Standards
  • Review compliance with reporting, documentation, and maintenance requirements
  • Help shape the next generation of fire protection professionals
Qualifications
  • Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE40122 or successor)
Experience
  • Minimum 2 years in fire equipment servicing, testing, and fault rectification
  • Knowledge of portable extinguishers, hose reels, hydrants, and automatic suppression systems
  • Familiarity with inspection reporting requirements and compliance documentation
Mandatory
  • TRA approval in the occupation
  • Evidence of current industry engagement
  • National Police Check
Preferred (not essential)
  • Working With Children Check
  • Valid Driver's Licence
