The Department for Education Aboriginal Pathways South Australian Aboriginal Secondary Training Academy (SAASTA) sits within the Student Pathways and Careers Division and is a highly regarded education, cultural, and sporting program with academies operating in high schools across South Australia. The SAASTA program creates a culturally safe environment that supports Aboriginal students to stay engaged in school and complete their SACE. School-based academies work in partnership with local communities to strengthen cultural knowledge and connection, promote health and wellbeing, and build skills in education, personal development, and leadership. Through its School-based academies and the SAASTA Connect program, SAASTA delivers tailored curriculum and support, giving Aboriginal students across metropolitan, regional, and remote areas access to pathways for success.
Reporting to the Manager of SAASTA, the School Operations Coordinator will develop and lead school programs designed to highly engage secondary Aboriginal students, with a focus on culture, health, language, sport, and wellbeing, delivered through a student-centered approach. The position ensures that SAASTA staff in Academy schools have access to high-quality learning resources to deliver culturally relevant and appropriate teaching programs. The School Operations Coordinator will develop programs that maximize senior-year student outcomes and prepare students for successful, meaningful post-school transitions. The incumbent will work collaboratively with the Aboriginal Pathways directorate, SAASTA Manager, Curriculum Coordinator Aboriginal Pathways, and key stakeholders.
Responsibilities- Develop and lead school programs designed to engage secondary Aboriginal students in culture, health, language, sport and wellbeing.
- Ensure access to high-quality learning resources for SAASTA staff in Academy schools.
- Collaborate with the Aboriginal Pathways directorate, SAASTA Manager, and Curriculum Coordinator Aboriginal Pathways.
- Support senior-year student outcomes and post-school transitions.

- Relevant graduate qualifications.
- Knowledge, connectivity and experience working with Aboriginal communities and networks across South Australia and broadly.
The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry. The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN –EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course which will be required to be updated every three years. RemunerationASO7 $108,109 - 116,864 per annum (1.0 FTE) + superannuation (12%) and leave loading.
