Overview

Data Platform Solution Engineer – Cloud & AI Data Platform - Melbourne role at Microsoft. Are you insatiably curious, deeply passionate about databases and analytics, and ready to tackle complex challenges in a dynamic AI-enabled environment? If so, you are invited to join our team as a Cloud & AI Solution Engineer in Innovative Data Platform for Enterprise customers at Microsoft. You'll collaborate with engineering leaders and platform teams to accelerate Microsoft's Fabric Data Platform, including Azure Databases and Analytics, through hands-on engagements such as Proof of Concepts, hackathons, and architecture workshops.

As a trusted technical advisor, you'll guide customers through secure, scalable solution design, influence technical decisions, and accelerate database and analytics migration into deployment workflows. You'll help customers modernize their data platform and realize the full value of Microsoft's platform, with flexible work opportunities.

Responsibilities
  • Drive technical sales with decision makers using demos and PoCs to influence solution design and enable production deployments.
  • Lead hands-on engagements, hackathons, code-with sessions, and architecture workshops to accelerate adoption of Microsoft's developer tools and cloud platforms.
  • Build trusted relationships with developers and platform leads, co-designing secure, scalable architectures and solutions.
  • Resolve technical blockers and objections, collaborating with engineering to share insights and improve products.
  • Maintain deep expertise in Analytics Portfolio: Microsoft Fabric (OneLake, DW, real-time intelligence, BI, Copilot), Azure Databricks, Purview Data Governance and Azure Databases: SQL DB, Cosmos DB, PostgreSQL.
  • Represent Microsoft through thought leadership in developer communities and customer forums.
QualificationsMinimum Experience
  • Experience in technical sales, pre-sales engineering, or solution architecture roles.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver technical demos, proofs of concept, or prototypes to influence customer decisions.
  • Direct experience leading customer engagements such as architecture workshops, hackathons, or code-with sessions.
  • Understanding of cloud-native solution design, security, and scalability principles.
  • Experience working closely with developers and technical stakeholders to co-design and implement solutions.
  • Technical troubleshooting experience with the ability to identify and resolve customer blockers.
Preferred Experience
  • Technical expertise in the Microsoft Analytics portfolio including Microsoft Fabric (OneLake, Data Warehouse, Real-time Intelligence, BI, Copilot), Azure Databricks, and Purview Data Governance.
  • Experience with Azure database services such as Azure SQL Database, Cosmos DB, and PostgreSQL.
  • Familiarity with developer tools and modern application development practices.
  • Experience contributing to or speaking at developer forums, tech meetups, or community events as a thought leader.
  • Experience collaborating with engineering and product teams to share customer feedback and drive product improvements.
  • Experience in designing and scaling cloud-based analytics or data governance solutions.
