Technical Support & Launcher Operations - New Norcia Deep Space Tracking Facility (Multiple roles)

This expansion of the New Norcia Deep Space Tracking Facility opens up opportunities for technicians and engineers at various levels to contribute to cutting-edge missions and the space industry.

Your responsibilities
  • Technical and maintenance support - Perform supervised technical tasks like maintenance on IT, RF, and electronic systems, including working at heights on antennas.
  • Installation assistance - Help with cable, fibre, and electronics installations as needed.
  • Operational reliability - Deliver high-quality work during time-critical maintenance periods to ensure station readiness.
  • Launcher involvement - Contribute to rocket launcher activities, occasionally outside normal hours.
  • Logistics coordination - Support shipment operations between New Norcia and European counterparts.
  • Documentation development - Assist in creating technical manuals, safe work procedures, and quality system documents.
Role specifics
  • Location and office arrangements: New Norcia Ground Station, Western Australia. Shared pool of vehicles to commute between Perth and New Norcia. Relocation support may be provided for new starters moving within Western Australia.
  • Salary: AU$67,026 – AU$96,811 per annum (pro rata for part-time), plus 15.4% superannuation. Additional allowances may apply (e.g., site allowance). Salary level depends on experience.
  • Tenure & work schedule: 5 roles available with a 5-year specified term tenure each. Flexible options: full-time, part-time or job share, discussed per role.
Essential criteria
  • Relevant Qualifications: Certificate of year 12 high school education.
  • Additional Qualifications: Completed or progressing trade qualifications, diploma or bachelor's degree in engineering, IT or science may qualify for higher grades.
  • Experience: Significant STEM experience may qualify for higher grades.
Desirable criteria
  • Interest in Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths fields.
  • Installation activities: Experience with cabling and optical fibre, or electronics equipment.
  • Working on structures: Ability and willingness to work at heights.
  • Health, safety, and wellbeing commitment.
