Beacon Legal have partnered with an Australian renewable energy developer in their search for a new Legal Counsel. They are looking to hire a construction lawyer at the 3-6 PQE level, to be based in their North Shore office.

We're seeking a proactive, motivated and energetic front-end construction lawyer to support a dynamic and growing legal team. This role offers the opportunity to work across a range of transactional construction and energy matters in a company that is playing a big role in the energy transition. The General Counsel is a leader in the space and is brilliant to work with.

This role will give you the chance to engage in impactful work with constant opportunities for professional growth. You will become part of a high-performing, supportive and innovative team and be able to contribute to an exciting, fast-paced industry.

About the Role

  • Lead and support the negotiation, drafting and review of a wide range of contracts such as MOUs, NDAs, Exclusivity Agreements, PPAs, EPC and O&M agreements, procurement and connection agreements.
  • Provide legal advice across all stages of the project lifecycle including development, project finance, construction and operation & maintenance.
  • Support and manage engagement with external counsel.
  • Assist with compliance matters including SOCI and FIRB considerations.
  • Contribute to the development of neighbour agreements and community benefit sharing arrangements.
  • Assist in strategic business initiatives and collaboration with cross-functional internal teams.
  • Work closely with stakeholders involved in LTESAs, REZ projects, and planning and permitting processes.

What type of person will be successful?

  • Admitted as a lawyer in Australia with full working rights.
  • Practising as a construction or projects lawyer for 3-6 years in a top law firm or in-house.
  • Strong experience across front-end legal work in infrastructure or major projects.
  • Knowledge or experience in project finance will be well regarded.
  • Excellent analytical, organisational and stakeholder management skills.
  • Collaborative, adaptable, and self-motivated.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Thrives in dynamic and evolving environments.
