Your Opportunity

As The Finance Officer You Will Be Responsible For

  • The purpose of this position is to be responsible for the provision of advice regarding the day-to-day running of financial operations, accrual accounting, costings and financial analysis for the organisation.

This position reports to the Corporate Finance Manager.

This is a Permanent, Full-Time opportunity unless otherwise determined.

The position will be based primarily at Mount Gravatt Campus however you may be required to perform work at other TAFE Queensland campuses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the organisation's operational financial reporting systems by ensuring revenue and expenditure is correctly allocated to appropriate revenue and cost collectors.
  • Support the month end process, analyse the end of month data and prepare processing functions e.g. journal, accruals, prepayments and other necessary adjustments.
  • Maintain and evaluate administrative and financial recording and reporting systems and provide transactional advice to Business Unit Managers regarding budgetary process and financial transactions.
  • Generate timely financial reports and statements for the organisation in relation to team/unit revenue and expenditure performance and management reporting.
  • Prepare periodic reconciliations as required to ensure internal and external audit compliance.
  • Prepare purchase requisitions.
  • Ensure all activities are undertaken in accordance with legislative policy guidelines, practices and procedures within the organisation.
  • Contribute to the achievement of TAFE Queensland's quality policies by encouraging an environment where high quality work is achieved and supported by the adherence/development of quality system documentation.
  • Other duties as directed by management.

How You Will Be Assessed

The ideal applicant will be someone who has the following key capabilities:
  • Demonstrated ability in the use of spreadsheet and word processing packages and financial management applications and related systems.
  • Proven ability to work cooperatively and effectively within a small work group to plan and prioritise work projects within legislative and quality system frameworks as well as interpret, apply and provide advice in relation to legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated sound problem solving and conceptual skills including the ability to analyse complex issues and recommend solutions within tight time frames.
  • Highly developed written and interpersonal skills and a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the values of the organisation through modelling behaviours and the provision of outstanding client service.

Highly Desirable Requirements
  • Possession of an appropriate qualification n Accounting or Commerce.
  • Three to five years financial accounting and systems experience.
