We are the consultant of choice for several global mining companies, and our team works across the entire full lifecycle of projects, from feasibility and site investigation through to design, construction, commissioning, operations, maintenance, and closure. We are now looking for talented engineers to help support the ongoing growth and success of our business. What You'll Do

As a Principal Engineer, you will take on a critical role providing technical leadership and overseeing the technical direction of various projects. This will see you working within a collaborate and supportive multidisciplinary team of highly skilled professionals, who are working on a diverse range of projects across various commodities and clients.

The Role Will Include The Following Responsibilities

• Oversee the technical direction of heap leach design studies and related analyses, including fulfilling Engineer of Record roles.
• Support the commissioning and operation of heap leach facilities.
• Provide input to earth structure designs.
• Liaise with specialists from other disciplines and offices within WSP.
• Provide direction and technical input to project teams and ensure that appropriate technical standards are developed and maintained.
• Assess and understand credible failure modes and how they apply to specific facilities.
• Take on technical leadership of multi-disciplinary project teams on local, regional and international consulting assignments.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring for staff in the regional team and as required review their project work.
• Deliver best practice consulting services to clients in Australia and overseas.
• Provide recommendations in area of tailings and mine waste management to clients.
• Maintain effective client relationships and generate consulting business.
• Build and maintain business networks.
• Oversee the project direction, including risk management, budget oversight and quality control for tailings, mine waste, heap leach and similar assignments.
  
  

About You

• Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Civil or Mining Engineering.
• Extensive proven experience working on heap leach/mine waste related projects locally or internationally, ideally in a consulting environment.
• Exceptional technical knowledge including understanding of heap leach studies and design.
• Ability to work independently and within multi-disciplinary project teams.
• Demonstrated experience managing technically and commercially in a mining consultancy.
• Ability to lead teams through technical guidance, and mentor more junior team members.
• In-depth understanding of local and international guidelines, best practice protocols and client standards.
• Ability to interpret, analyse and communicate information of a more complex nature and understanding of confidentiality of information.
• Excellent communication skills, and strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
• Ability to balance innovation, quality and technical excellence with delivery to timelines and cost.
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills, with the capacity to build professional relationships both internally and client facing.
