Job Description

OpenBet are looking for a talented Development Lead towork on the Gaming workstream for one of our Tier 1 Australian customers.

As a Development Lead with the OpenBet Team , you'll beexpected to take ownership of an engineering unit, harnessing the skills of those who specialise in disciplines such as software engineering, business analysis and quality assurance to deliver the best overall result. You will be expected to line manage people in a variety of disciplines and effectively manage the careers of your team, providing the necessary direction and support. A Development Lead uses their knowledge of delivery and software engineering best practice to shape the team's methodology , deliver on the strategic direction for engineering processes, and build a strong and trusting relationship with the Client and/or other teams within OpenBet .

Example Responsibilities:

• Line management of 6 - 12 technical resources including pastoral care, formal reviews, and both identification and provisioning of training needs

  • Management of resources to ensure the appropriate team shape, levels of experience/capability and fulfilment of roles - including the recruitment of technical employees

    • Facilitate the development methodology e.g. sprint planning, retrospectives etc.

      • Manage implementation of software engineering strategy

        • Implementation of strategy for software engineering processes, ensuring stakeholders are on board and measuring progress through KPIs

          • Customer liaison regarding software engineering practices and processes

            • Deputise for the Development Manager as required

              • Budgetary involvement with regards to team size, balance and other resource needs

Qualifications

If you're the right Development Lead for us you'll be able to demonstrate :

• Previous hands-on engineering experience in at least one major language ( Java, J2EE, C, C++ )

  • Strong fundamental software engineering skills ( data structures, algorithms )

    • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken

      • Knowledge of Agile, Scrum, BDD, TDD and/or CI

        • A passion for quality driven software engineering

It'd also be great to see these skills/experiences as well:

• Previous leadership experience

  • Previous line management experience

    • Demonstrable experience building strong client stakeholder relationships
