Budget Team coordinates the State Budget functions for the Queensland Police Service (QPS) including preparing and coordinating Cabinet Budget Review Committee (CBRC) submissions for the annual State Budget and Mid-Year Fiscal and Economic Review (MYFER) process, preparing stand-alone CBRC submissions for certain initiatives and coordinating the preparation of the annual State Budget papers.

The Budget Team also informs and supports reporting, strategic planning and decision-making in the QPS.

As part of this role, you will require strong analytical skills and the ability to translate financial and operational data for the QPS Senior Executive.

You will be required to engage with internal and external stakeholders.

Your Key Accountabilities
  • Provide high quality, well-researched advice to senior management in relation to Service-related strategy, policy, planning, reporting and performance issues.
  • Manage projects and research tasks as required.
  • Contribute to the development of Branch goals and objectives and making a positive contribution as an effective team member
  • Prepare complex correspondence, briefings and submissions for senior management, the Minister, Cabinet and other diverse audiences in accordance with organisational requirements.
  • Consult and liaise effectively with high-level stakeholders within the organisation and relevant Government departments and non-government organisations on Service-related strategy, policy, planning, reporting and performance issues.
Role Requirements
  • There are no mandatory requirements for this role however, experience in writing Cabinet Budget Review Committee submissions, policing, criminology, law, finance or a similar criminal justice related field will be considered favourably.
Technical/Operational/Educational experience
  • PowerBI and Microsoft Excel
